'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Loved Ones of Missing Teenagers Await News After Ski Resort Blaze

Teenage Swiss teenager Arthur Brodard is one of those unaccounted for.

The families of young people missing after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an excruciating wait for confirmed information and appealing for information about their family members via social media.

The fire engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Circulated video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the fatalities of the fire, which killed numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. A spokesperson noted on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work continuing to locate the final individuals.

In the interim, families and friends have been using social media to plead for any news about their friends who were present at the venue that night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his family.

The resident of a town near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his peers had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its citizens remain missing.

Teenage sportsman Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around midnight on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is dead, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"A close friend told me they fled after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his educators commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, combined with great responsibility. Often ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are closely watching the situation.
