The children's author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

The comedian

Acclaimed young adult author and comedian David Walliams is no longer with his publisher HarperCollins UK, according to an announcement.

An official for the company stated: "Following a thorough review, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was reached following an review of claims about inappropriate behaviour involving female individuals.

The company did not confirm the specific rationale behind the move, stating: "We refrain from speaking about private personnel issues."

A Prolific Publishing History

Walliams is one of the UK's most prolific writers for young readers, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his titles, including *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works combined, including a Christmas book titled *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins this past October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has been honored with National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE back in 2017 honoring his contributions to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss last fall.
