Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton head coach - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
