Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Accolades.

Aryna Sabalenka celebrating a point
Aryna Sabalenka concluded the tour with an notable twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of High Performance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Honorees

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.

  • Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.
