Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
