A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann allegedly left her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court learned phone records and information obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most covered missing child cases and continues to be unsolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording said: "What if there is a tiny probability that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.

The panel was informed that by means of emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with law enforcement who gathered the data, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to close associates of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in that winter.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had contacted via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time preceding the appearance to the village, that area, in that winter.

The court was told message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, discussing endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from cutlery at a restaurant.

"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg sent a message which said: "We're currently sitting near the McCanns' home with our lights out resembling detectives. I wanted to do this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be doing that with the McCanns."
